A Weekend Guide to Getting Out of Delhi

22 June 2026

Delhi is a great base for weekend trips — plenty of destinations worth visiting sit just a few hours away by road, close enough that you don't need to burn a whole day just getting there.

Agra is the obvious first pick, and for good reason. The Taj Mahal aside, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri are both worth the detour. It's a same-day trip if you leave early, or an easy overnight if you'd rather not rush.

Jaipur makes for a longer weekend. Give yourself two days to properly see the City Palace, Amber Fort, and the old city's markets — trying to cram it into a day trip means you'll leave wanting more.

Rishikesh and Haridwar pair well together if you're after something calmer. Haridwar's evening Ganga Aarti and Rishikesh's riverside cafes and yoga ashrams make for a genuinely relaxing couple of days, a change of pace from Delhi's traffic and noise.

For any of these, an outstation cab means you're not tied to train or bus schedules — you set the pace, stop where you want along the way, and skip the hassle of finding local transport once you arrive.
